Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs)
Training
After successful completion of the CPCS Technical Test, candidates are issued with red Trained Operator Card. This card lasts for 2 years and in this time card holders are required to undertake the relevant SVQ to upgrade to the Blue Competent Operator card.
Qualification
On completion of the SVQ certificates of achievement will be issued from the awarding body; SQA. Provided the candidate has an in date Operatives Health & Safety Test the Blue Competent Operator Card can then be applied for. These cards last for 5 years.

Qualifications that can be used throughout your working life and can be taken from site to site with the knowledge that it shows the employer you are competent and able to work to recognised industry standards.
Duration
The completion time will vary, and is dependent upon the candidate’s commitment, the evidence supplied and the observations our assessor is able to undertake during site visits.

Course InformationThis is a competence-based qualification, candidates will be assessed on their knowledge and skills through on-the-job observations and witness testimonies. This qualification has a range of pathways and is linked to typical job roles that candidates encounter within the industry. Candidates can gain this qualification on various specialist plant machines e.g. lorry loader, telehandler, forward tipping dumper, dumptruck, sweeper, ride-on-roller. Pre-requisites
