Note: The number of days training does not include the CPCS test

Pre-requisites

  1. You must have the passed the relevant CITB Health and Safety Test within 2 years of the CPCS test.

Primary Objectives -

To provide an understanding of the relevant operational and safety requirements applicable to lorry loader operators (such as Hi-Ab). Course will include:

  • Describing the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator
  • Naming and explaining the purpose of principle components, the basic construction, controls and terminology
  • Conforming with manufacturer’s requirements as per the operators handbook, other types of information source and relevant regulations and legislation
  • Explaining all relevant documentation
  • Undertaking all pre-use checks on host vehicle and loader crane
    Configuring the vehicle and loader for travel
  • Travelling the vehicle to an area of work
  • Manoeuvring in confined spaces
  • Positioning and configuring the vehicle and loader crane for lifting duties
  • Deploying the stabilisers
  • Explaining actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services
  • Complying with Rated Capacity Indicators or Load Moment Indicators
  • Identifying weights and centres of gravity
  • Lifting various loads using the full radius and slewing capabilities of the loader
  • Placing loads accurately at designated positions including on and from the vehicle
  • Explaining different types of compatible lifting accessories
  • Maintaining safe working situations
